My Story
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that life leaves its mark on all of us. Some experiences shape us in good ways, others leave wounds that take years to even understand. We don’t get to choose what happens to us, but I do believe healing is possible. I’m sharing my story because I want you to know you’re not alone in yours.
For most of my life, I struggled. Mentally, emotionally, and at times, physically. Depression and anxiety came and went, and my instinct was always to disconnect from what I was feeling instead of actually dealing with it.
I lost touch with myself a long time ago, and I stayed that way for years. Surviving became my normal. I kept repeating the same patterns. The way I spoke to myself, the relationships I found myself in, the fears I carried, and the ways I kept abandoning my own needs. It all felt familiar, but familiar doesn’t always mean healthy.
From the outside I looked fine. I showed up, I smiled, I kept going. Most people who knew me had no idea. But a few years ago, I began to realize I wasn’t really living. I was just running on survival mode. And something had to change.
Learning to Come Home to Myself
I started looking for ways to actually understand myself, not just get through the day. Over the years I explored a lot of different paths. Therapy, yoga (which I ended up getting certified to teach), energy healing, and a dance healing training that taught me how to take up space within myself, space that had always felt uncomfortable. It became one of the most powerful ways I found to move energy through my body.
None of it fixed everything on its own. But together they helped me see my patterns clearly enough to actually begin working through them, allowing myself to finally feel what had been suppressed for years. And slowly, I started creating real shifts within myself.
Art Was Always My Outlet
Growing up, I always felt like the black sheep. The outsider. Just... different.
Art had always been an outlet for me when I was younger, a place where none of that mattered. Starting to create again brought back a sense of calmness and joy I remembered feeling back then. I would literally spend hours drawing. It was such a safe space for me.
I used to feel so in my body too. I was expressive, happy, and free. And at some point, that version of me slowly disappeared, because she didn’t feel safe anymore. We all have our own trauma, and mine took a long time for me to really sift through. It hasn’t been a “pretty” journey. There are versions of myself I’m not the proudest of, but I also wouldn’t have made it this far without them.
Eventually I realized the very things that made me feel different were actually some of the most beautiful parts of who I am. The way I see the world. My sensitivity. My creativity. My curiosity. My self-expression. They were never flaws, they were just parts of me waiting to be accepted.
Small Moments, Big Shifts
Some of the biggest shifts happened in the smallest, most ordinary moments. Dancing around my kitchen. Listening to music that spoke to every bone in my body. Moving in ways that helped me process what I was carrying. Making art because it gave my emotions somewhere to go. Spending time in nature, watching the light filter through the trees. Letting myself be ridiculously silly, just because.
I realized, healing doesn’t always have to feel so serious. Sometimes it’s creating. Sometimes it’s moving. Sometimes it’s laughing so hard your stomach hurts. Those moments didn’t just help me heal, they reminded me to actually enjoy my life, and I found myself feeling more connected, not just inwardly, but to everything around me, than I had in years.
But it hasn’t been a straight line. Some days I feel deeply connected to myself, and other days I don’t. Old patterns still show up, and new lessons keep teaching me something. I don’t think any of us ever arrive. We keep growing. We keep changing. We keep coming home to ourselves.
How Lumi Libra Started
This didn’t start as what you see today. It started with me shyly sharing little pieces of myself, a photo, a thought, a painting, or a reminder I needed to hear.
At first it felt vulnerable to put those parts of me out into the world. But I slowly realized that expressing myself wasn’t just something I enjoyed, it became how I started to feel the light within me again.
What began as a creative outlet grew into something much bigger, a place where I began sharing my own healing practices and watched them become invitations for other people to explore alongside me.
I want other women to feel more connected to themselves, tapped into their creativity, and free to be who they truly are. Because of everything I’ve been through, I feel called to share what’s actually helped me get here.
That’s the heart of Lumi Libra. Not perfection. Not answers. Just permission to be exactly who you are.
My hope is that this becomes somewhere you can return to whenever you need the reminder.
Beyond Lumi Libra…
- Nature makes me ridiculously happy. Butterflies, wildflowers, rainbows, interesting clouds…I’m the person who stops to admire them all (and almost always takes a picture).
- Animals have my whole heart.
- I’m a Snoopy lover for life.
- Dancing around the house and belting out to throwback songs will forever be my jam.
- Talking to trees absolutely counts as therapy.
- I love all things astrology!!! (Feel free to share your Sun, Moon, and Rising with me!)
- I believe creativity belongs to everyone. We’re all meant to express ourselves in our own unique way.
- I hope I never stop getting excited about the little things. I think that childlike sense of wonder is one of the greatest gifts we can hold onto.
